Immigration in Spain

Being a citizen of the United States, I use the immigration controls there as a scale. Basically, the US is usually the most difficult with other countries falling in an area that is more pleasant and less intensive (truly even I have issues when I go through US immigration as a citizen).

However, Spain has “taken the cake”. First, we had no paperwork to fill out. Truthfully, as we approached the counter, I fully expected them to turn us away (everywhere I have been makes you fill out paperwork). When we got to the desk, our passports were stamped and given back in less than a minute. No checks. No scans. Nothing. Our process only took that long because the two immigration agents were chatting!

I’m not sure how the rest of the EU is operating right now, but Madrid is definitely an easy access point!
